Slavery and Freedom in Savannah
Jepson Center, Telfair Museums, Savannah, Georgia, 2014
Slavery and Freedom in Savannah was presented at the book launch for the publication of the book with same title. The exhibition presented objects and text that told stories about the African American experience in Savannah from the colonial era to the 20th century, and served as a beta exhibition for the later reinterpreted Slave Quarters, Carriage House, and Basement at the Owens-Thomas House. One important feature in the exhibition was a list of names of the enslaved people once owned by the Owens family. This statement became a focal point in the permanent introductory exhibit in the Owens-Thomas House Carriage House.
