Fact and Fantasy: Beaded Narratives by Nancy Hooten and Kym Hepworth

Nancy Hooten's and Kym Hepworth's work tell visual narratives through beads, threads, buttons, fabric, and other mixed media. Although their works are beautifully crafted and sensuous, their stories are layered with meaning that often evoke distressing and solemn feelings that challenge the viewer. This common element of their work inspired me to ask both artists to create a work inspired by another female Savannah artist, writer Flannery O’Connor, pictured below.
